About the Jesusla Foundation

This little, curly haired angel is Jesusla!  Pronounced Gisella.  She was born in June 2001.  I met her in January 2003.  She was 18 months old and my son Gabriel was 15 months old.  I saw a photo of her before I ever went to Haiti.  When I got there, I immediately went in search of her and I knew that she was my child. However, the Haitian Adoption agency would not  allow her adoption to me, because I already had 9 children.  Jesusla died 2 months after I returned to the USA.  I was heart broken, but from that despair arose the deepest desire and motivation to return to Africa and help the children there.

This blog will tell her story, as much as I know, my interactions with her and other beautiful little Rainbow children who happen to have received the additional title of Orphan. I hope that our story to lift the little children in this beautiful world will inspire you to join us.

My son, David, went with me to Africa and made a profound comment.  "Your worst day in the USA is better than their best day in Haiti!"  Haiti can be substituted for any third world country.  We can do so much.  At the minimum we can give a child clothing, food and shelter but ultimately we want to provide them with Hope because that is what will give them the desire to be alive.
